Our Philosophy:

Please note that 'Nedji du Bois des Trembles' and 'Jason' have retired from Breeding; but are nonetheless enjoying their lives in the country to the fullest!!!

We distinguish the Malinois as an overall working breed.  Our breeding goal is to preserve its original integrity.  We breed for the BREED.  In order to achieve this; a balance of drives must be realized.  To breed for a specific discipline solely; means to extinguish other genetic traits, which results in an imbalance of these drives, and long-term deterioration of the overall working Malinois.   We do not customize Malinois to meet the ever-changing trends of our society.  What attracted us to the Malinois originally was their original and intended versatility and their applicability to a diverse range of disciplines.   

We believe a Malinois should have intense drives on various levels and not be genetically restricted to only a few.  For example, a true ‘sport dog’ is very unlikely to ever be able to apply and work in a real life situation as it’s drives and temperament are limited to very few traits/drives.  We deem that even if one doesn’t have need or use of other traits in their program such as ‘guarding’, ‘possessiveness’, ‘defense’, hunt/tracking etc; genetically those traits must still be present and preserved.  Otherwise, generations into the future; this breed will no longer have the resourcefulness or the ability which it became originally known and created for.  We breed for the overall dog.  On average, as there are always individual exceptions within any given working litter; the model should encompass a Malinois which is able to specialize in any performance or work discipline, but in order to do so it must genetically possess various drives.

Another issue seen all too frequently today is a weak working structure.  Proper working structure is a requisite.  It provides for soundness, working longevity and ability to achieve required tasks. 

Today, in addition; we see an increase in Malinois with diluted or intentionally ‘moderated’ temperaments in order to make them more suitable as pets and meet the market demands of the average pet owner and the resulting breed popularity.  However, this also unquestionably creates Malinois as less than a superlative working dog.  That which makes them excel as the working athletes of the canine world also makes them less than ideal as pets.  We feel that the Malinois was never created (nor should) be bred for ‘pet’ or to be without a purpose in life.  It is a working dog.  Although, there will always be individuals produced which would make ideal pets even from working litters; a working breeder’s focus must remain to produce drive, workability,   health, stability, and structure first and foremost. 

Our Malinois are being placed in Sch/IPO, Ring, PSA, SAR, KNPV, Detection, K9, and PP.  They are proving their incredible drives, stability, structure, motivation, workability, confidence, and the versatility to perform in a variety of occupations with excellence!

About Us...

We are located in Eastern Ontario (between Ottawa and Montreal and minutes from NY), Canada; and have over 30 years combined  experience in training and breeding working dogs.  We never compromise working ability.  We do not 'mass produce' Malinois puppies and limit our breedings to 1 or 2 litters per year.  The puppies are usually spoken for prior to whelping; so reservations are highly recommended.  Puppies are CKC/AKC  registerable and all breeding stock is imported with health clearances.Puppies come with a written health guarantee.  All puppies are extensively imprinted and raised in a family environment.  We place extreme importance on socialization and audio, visual, and physical exposure to various stimuli.  For more information please contact us at:

Our Dogs...

We breed for total balance and stability while maintaining extreme drives and workability.  We also place great emphasis on the deep genetic driving Belgian grips, courage, and natural aggression.  We are extremely selective in our breeding practices and although we've had several great working and scoring dogs in the past; some did not meet our criteria of a 'stud' or 'breeding female' and therefore were never bred.

We are also great believers in versatility and breed to produce puppies which can be placed in PSD areas, Detection, Customs, SAR, Sports, Security, and Personal Protection. 

Structure is another area which is very important in our opinion; as this promotes the dog's working longevity and soundness,  as well as speed and agility needed to excel in various arenas.

Our Foundation Male:

JASON FR III--NARA 2000 Ring III Ch.

Jason was imported from France at 9 months.  He's a very intense, tough and powerful dog with a deep, strong grip and a stable temperament.  He has speed, agility and strength. After only 18 months of trialing, he had achieved his Brevet through Ring III titles!  Jason is extremely intelligent and learns at an incredible rate!  His search/hunt and retrieve drives are unsurpassable!  He also possesses a very high fight drive.

His lines stem from the legendary dogs such as:  Gamin des Deux Pottois, Apple des Loups Mutins, Robin de la Fontaine du Buis, and linebred on Jack des Deux Pottois.

I had the opportunity to meet his sire and dam.  The sire was extremely hard and aggressive and tended to pass this along to his puppies; and the dam had substance, confidence, and was very outgoing and social.

Jason is an extremely prepotent sire and has produced litters which are outstanding in workability and stability.  He tends to OUT-produce himself in his progeny whether used with out or outside females; and we feel has become invaluable to the working Malinois gene pool.  He produces incredibly fast learning, agile, driven, and balanced puppies.  Their power, substance, and grips are exceptional.  Their scenting/tracking abilities are outstanding. 

All of Jason's littermates have achieved Ring III titles.  Be sure to check his pedigree for more information!

Jason is known for his extreme drives, handler focus, motivation, and incomparable agility; as he had demonstrated repeatedly at numerous trials.  Jason is a hard dog with outstanding fight drive!  Jason is now 13 years young!

Nedji:

Nedji was imported from France in March 2001.  She is a very social and confident female.  Nedji is very focused and motivated in her obedience work.  She is exceptionally strong and forward in her protection work.  Her agility and speed are incredible!  She is also a very dominant female.  She has the fullest grip I've seen--whether on suit or sleeve!

Nedji possesses the best of the original Deux Pottois lines, and Michel Valladon feels she would make an immense contribution to the Working Malinois gene pool as well as the sport!  Von LÖWENFELS lines, which stem from Belgian lines, have dominated and lead the international competition in Europe for the past decade. 

Nedji has had the best training and decoying that France has to offer.  We are proud to have this outstanding female, trained and decoyed by one of France's best!

Michel Valladon came highly recommended and those knowing him are well aware of his honesty, integrity, and his uncanny ability to recognize, train, and assess the quality of working dogs.

Michel’s assessments of Nedji include:

"She is an EXCEPTIONAL female and it will be hard to find a better female! She should be in Ring III!…       he is also pretty and nice"

In the picture above, her drive and bite speak for themselves!   Nedji is a hard female with an insatiable drive to hunt, search, swim, and retrieve as well.  Michel was so right in describing Nedji the only way one can describe a dog like this:  EXCEPTIONAL!  Nedji is also extremely stable and confident in any environment.  EXTREME and VERSATILE are the words to describe this female.  Nedji is 10 years young now!

Tessa:

Tessa is an extremely driven and confident female.  Tessa is also very social and stable.   Her speed and agility are incredible.  We feel Tessa has the ideal temperament for a breeding female and she has proven to be a great asset to our breeding program.  She is a product of incredibly bred working dogs and is already proving herself a reflection of her pedigree.  Tessa has been trained to FR II level at which time a decision was made to breed her.

Tessa is extreme in her prey, hunt, and retrieve drives!  Tessa has been bred to Jason four times,  and we will continue to breed this 'golden cross' for as long as we are blessed with Jason's presence!  Their previous puppies are nothing short of incredible.  Their size, temperament, extreme drives and balance is unsurpassable.  The puppies they have produced are working in various disciplines making their owners extremely satisfied and proud!

          Fontaine d'Or Qain BH, ScH I 96 in OB and 98 in Protection!!!--Trained to ScH III as well as Trained on Suitwork!  Is already proving to be a producer as his first progeny are working in Sport, Police, and Detection!

Jason has definitely outproduced himself several times and Qain is just one such example!

Qain is our up and coming 'superstar' (Jason X Tessa).  He is an extremely powerful and forward worker possessing extreme drives and at 10 months was training in Sch III routines!  His extreme food, play, retrieve, and protection drives; not to mention his excellent working structure, and appearance make him not only a serious contender for international competition, but also as a breeding candidate!  Qain is considered by many to be an 'insane' tracker with incredible focus and 'deep nose'.  Qain shows superb resilience under various pressures.  Although Qain has begun titling in the discipline of Sch/IPO...His training and foundation work nevertheless consisted (and still does) of Ring training/suitwork, and will shortly advance to muzzle and hidden sleeve work.  His driving deep grips are outstanding--in fact one can't get a better/deeper driving bite!--We are confident that Qain's future will be as successful as his sire's was...not only in performance, but also as a producer and contributor to the workability and balance we treasure and appreciate so much in this breed.

Qain's entries and intensity combined with power and presence are unsurpassable.  It is extremely difficult to find a helper who can take Qain's entries!

Both Michael Ellis and Bernard Flinks were impressed and noted that he is definitely a National Caliber Malinois.  In fact Flinks went as far as to say that Qain and his sister Ulla are examples of stable, clear headed, high drive Malinois and he commented that Qain's extreme striking power is a perfect example of superior genetics and something which cannot be trained into a dog!

Along with the balance of extreme drives; Qain also possesses natural aggression with the ability to turn this and other drives 'off and on' instantaneously depending upon the situation or command.  His stability, sociability, and balance have made Qain a Malinois, which can be taken into any situation or environment.  Although dominant and certainly a 'handful', Qain is neither handler nor dog aggressive.

His high intelligence and motivation have made Qain a pleasure to train!  We truly believe that Jason has out-produced himself in his son.  Like his father, Qain's ability and the rate with which he learns a new concept is astounding.

Qain is the ideal representative of the Breed and what 'power' under control, balance, stability, and tolerance should be all about!

Qain at 21 mos measures 25+" and weighs 75 lbs. and like his sire, possesses extreme speed, agility, and POWER...Not only in protection work but also in the Obedience arena...

Qain has had his hips/elbows OVC cert. (exc.).  Qain is now available for breeding to a limited number of approved outside  females!  Qain has been bred for the first time to an outside female and we're excitedly awaiting his first litter!  Please contact us for more information on this litter and other upcoming Qain litters!

Qain has made his debut, along with his sister Ulla; and both demonstrated incredible performances ('virtually flawless') with Qain taking the 'high' in his class along with his full sister Ulla a close second...

Ulla:

Is 4 yrs old... Her incredible drives and desire to do every aspect of work have enabled her to excel in training.  Another highly proven Jason X Tessa  combination. 

Ulla is a social and highly driven female.  This female LOVES to work in every aspect.  She exudes 'quality' and presence so evident in her work and beauty.  Ulla has an insatiable desire to please and is one of the most willing workers we've had the pleasure of training.  She is neither dog nor handler aggressive although dominant with other females....Like Qain, Ulla is extremely intelligent (a trait, her sire is very known for), making her a 'quick study' in every aspect.  She can also be taken into any environment.  Ulla is extremely loyal and affectionate with her family.

Ulla, not only excels in protection, tracking, and obedience, but is also one of the fastest and most agile Malinois we've had the pleasure of seeing. 

 

Kona:

She is showing herself to be an 'extreme' female (like her mother), with natural intensity (as you can see in the picture) and seriousness for work.  Kona has abundant natural aggression and extremely high drives including protection, retrieve/hunt, and play drives.  She is resilient and very 'male like' in her working abilities and consistency!

Kona has matured into an extremely intense and serious girl at 3 yrs of age.  She is also a beautiful Malinois.  Kona is slightly above 21" and weighs approximately 48-50 lbs.  She will become a part of our breeding program in 2008.  Kona is a dog of 'extremes'....yet upon command she has an 'off' switch.  She will retrieve 'anything and everything'; and does so with the same intensity as she does her protection work. She tracks; loves water; will work with or without equipment.  She is a one-handler dog and lives 100% to work!  She is also a dominant female who exhibits high pack drive, possession, resilience, natural protective instincts; and unwavering focus (as can be seen in the photos).  Her willingness to work for her handler is unsurpassed.  Kona exhibited these traits as a puppy and stayed 'true' to her breeding and puppy assessments.  She has unbelievable speed, agility, and courage.  Kona's puppies will be placed into experienced homes only.  Extreme describes this dog!

Introducing Our New Imports!

                               'Teja'--(N'Zo du Calvaire aux Acacias FR III X Ricci des deux Pottois FR III             'Bryn'--(Baylili van Joefarm--out of Uplahoi van Joefarm X Quny van Joefarm)

 'Teja'--After much research and time; we've finally acquired a female we felt would contribute to our breeding program; without taking anything away.  Teja is a substantial female; yet still within the Breed Standard.  She carries a dark overlay with super pigmentation.  Teja is a dominant bitch toward her own kind...yet is not dog or handler aggressive.  She has been bred previously and produced very dominant and confident puppies.  Teja possesses a genetic full grip and is very Belgian in 'type'.  Teja's hips and elbows have been xrayed and evaluated and OFA Cert. Teja is a 'food hound' with an incredible 'nose' and the ability to turn extreme drive into 'OFF' mode.  She is neutral/aloof toward those outside her pack; yet very affectionate with us.  Teja is 'bomb proof'...IOW, stable on every level and has never demonstrated nerviness or fear in any environment or situation.  She can be taken anywhere and is superb in the house, vehicle/travelling, and crate/kennel. 

Teja is resilient and is not handler sensitive; yet is handler focused.  She can accept a correction without diminishing any drive.  She is possessive of her 'toys' and carries an insatiable desire to retrieve.  She has tremendous speed and power.  Teja has been bred to Fontaine d'Or Qain!  The litter is linebred and can be viewed under the 'Planned Breedings' link.  Reservations are recommended.  Puppies due mid-December!
